Sunspot markup

Purpose

Used in my observing logs to refer to an active area on the Sun.

Note that this markup is badly named. I should probably have called it activearea or activeregion because this is what it really refers to. Likewise, I think the sescnumber parameter is also badly named; I can’t actually remember how I came up with that, I think it probably came from a misreading of a document in the early days of devising the markup.

Syntax

<sunspot sescnumber="ID of active area here">Descriptive text goes here</sunspot>

Note that, with my current setup, the sescnumber is designed to accept values with the leading “10” removed. If a sescnumber of “923” is given this actually means “10923”. This, again, is fallout from a lack of knowledge when I first started solar observing.

At some point in the future I might go back and correct all of this.

Examples

I could see one large spot in <sunspot sescnumber="923">active area 923</sunspot>.
